【How Canvas is Made】Part４ Belgian Loom, Picanol
The picture below shows the weaving process of the canvas using a Belgian made shuttle loom called Picanol. One day of operation can only result in few ten meters of fabric depending on the thickness we choose, as it weaves strong fabric very slowly. It is regarded as a valuable machine, with only few numbers operating in the world. Even broken ones are kept in factories for its pieces to be used.
Due to seasonal climate change, it creates differences in temperature and humidity which greatly affects the weaving to change in quality. Therefor it is carefully adjusted by the hands of craftsmen.
